Day 9 - Thursday 14th June - Oamaru to Moeraki Boulders

Oamaru is quite a large town so today was a bit of a boring day with normal activities like filling up on fuel, supplies, food, etc.

Oamaru has a Victorian quarter to the town with distinct pale limestone carved buildings in it. There was a small museum and art galleries we visited. The highlight of our day was lunch in a Victorian tea room, with a waitress dressed in full Victorian costume, a log fire, Victorian crockery and a Victorian style till. The cakes were huge and amazing!! She wheeled the cake trolley over to our table so we could choose.

We drove 35km south of Oamaru on the coastal scenic road to a campsite next to the beach near the Moeraki boulders. We intend on an early rise tomorrow morning so we can catch the low tide and go for a walk to see the boulders.
