Old adventures . . . at Oliver Cromwell's Castle

Oliver Cromwell's Castle, Tresco, Isles of Scilly

We visited the Isles of Scilly on our honeymoon, although I have been here a number of times previously as well.

Oliver Cromwell's Castle is found on the island of Tresco, it is a lovely walk to the castle and great to climb in it's ruins. You can see the island of Bryher across the straits.

This photo was taken when we were there for our honeymoon in June 2011.

Adventures in Wales in September - Morfa Nefyn & Pwllheli

On the last day of our adventures we visited Morfa Nefyn a beautiful little penisular with a golf course on it...

The peninsular from Morfa Nefyn

The 3 Musketeers ready for the adventure

Beautiful bays...

...boats and blue sea...

...& a pub right on the shore...

...with a fab view over the bay...

...and beyond....

....they were building a new life boat centre so...

...our path was diverted up some scaffolding stairs....

...which took us to the top of the headland...

...with views back over the pub.

Later we visited Pwllheli...where we saw a forlorn heron....

....a river mouth...

...filled with lots of boats.

This is until next years holidaying adventures :)

Old adventures . . . in the favelas

Fortaleza, Brasil - the favelas (slums) and rich tower blocks

This photo was taken on my gap year in Brasil in 2004-5. We wanted a photo which showed the great extremes of poverty next to wealth and this was just perfect.

The favelas are the slums, built with whatever they can find right up to the beach, ready to get washed away at the next rainy season and further around the bay is the tourist area with the rich tower blocks of nice flats, hotels and offices.

This photo was taken about a 10 minute walk from the area we were living in, Carlito Pamplona.

Frying the rice

Method:

  2. Pre-cook the peas and carrots.
  3. Heat the oil until hot & fry the bacon lardons or ham until starting to brown.

Old adventures . . . at the Sphinx

In 2006 I had the opportunity to visit Egypt with some of my university friends and we had our own personal tour guides (Egyptian university friends). It was a fab trip to see a bit of the world...
